Artist Statement

My work explores the complex balance of our relationship with industry, technology, and the environment. In this work I investigate similarities between artificial and natural systems, by experimenting with a process of material substitution. While my pieces mainly reference natural forms, they are constructed from a variety of natural, pre-consumer, and post-consumer materials. My work questions consumption and abundance and addresses the relationship between rural and urban landscapes. It is my hope that my work creates a means of opening a dialogue about our relationship to technology and ecology.
